The GRID kick off meeting was held on March 6, 2019.  The meeting covered the governance structure for the Energy Market Methods Consortium (EM2) and explored the range of topics that may be covered in the GRID working group.

GRID will cover issues at the boundaries of CalTRACK, by developing consistent methods for adjustments to avoided energy use, which may be necessary for to reflect incremental grid impacts.

Experts from around the industry contributed in this inaugural meeting by discussing the process and content for future discussions.  More contributors are welcome as the group moves toward testing and articulating the detailed approaches that will evolve from the process.

The next GRID working group meeting will be held on Wednesday April 10, 2019 at 10:00 AM (PT).  See the EM2 Calendar for the full details for all working group meetings this year.  Please contact Bruce Mast about joining the GRID working group or the EM2 Consortium.

The video and slide deck for the GRID kick off meeting are provided in the links below.

The next phase of collaboration on CalTRACK has commenced!  CalTRACK and the OpenEEMeter are migrating to new governance structures and “homes” aligned with the Linux Foundation, one of the largest supporters of open source projects in the world.

CalTRACK methods will continue to be developed under the umbrella of a new group called the Energy Market Methods Consortium (EM2). The CalTRACK methods working group will continue to address updates to the avoided energy use tool and two other working groups will tackle the related topics of adjustments for grid integration (GRID) and secure data transfer (SEAT). The governance of this the project and the three working groups will be under the umbrella of charters approved by the Joint Development Fund.

A video of the kick off meeting, held on February 19th, provides more detail on the structure of the EM2. Unfortunately the recording picked up the video boxes which may impair viewing of some of bullets; so the slide deck is available below the video link.
